Grady Clocks In: Stripping down and waxing off at Bare Esthetics

ST. GEORGE — With inflation on the rise, many people are looking for a side hustle, including Grady Sinclair. In this episode of “Grady Clocks In,” the friendly host and jack of all trades visited Bare Esthetics, a beauty studio in the heart of downtown St. George, to pick up a shift.

Owner/operator Caitlin Connell and her team of beauty specialists love making people feel good in their own skin. Bare Esthetics offers full-body waxing specializing in Brazilian waxes along with spray tans and lash extensions.

First, Sinclair was tasked with restocking hygiene products in the ladies’ bathroom and taking out the trash. He also helped clean a treatment room before the next customer arrived. That customer turned out to be none other than Sheldon Demke, local celebrity and host of “What’s on the Menu” and “TGIF.”

“It’s fun when guys can groom themselves, you know?” Demke said. “It’s not weird anymore.”

Demke climbed onto the table for his back wax, and Connell guided Sinclair through the process of cleaning the skin and applying oil, then preparing the wax. And finally, it was time to rip away.

“Look at that!” Sinclair marveled. “It’s like a gorilla.”

At the end of the day, Sinclair reflected on his work and decided he’s more suited for janitorial duties than waxing. Perhaps he can take classes from Connell, who shares her expertise in removing hair everywhere from the neck down with students at Bare Esthetics. However, waxing Demke was one of the highlights of his life.

But will he have another chance to help out at the studio?
