Jif brand peanut butter is sold at stores nationwide. And according to the CDC, various types of Jif peanut butter have been recalled: crunchy, smooth, natural, reduced-fat and more.

The CDC provided these guidelines on what to do:

  • Do not eat any recalled Jif brand peanut butter. Throw it away.
  • This product has a very long shelf life, so be sure to check any Jif peanut butter you have at home to make sure it has not been recalled.
  • Wash surfaces and containers that may have touched the recalled peanut butter using hot, soapy water.

Call your healthcare provider if you have one or more of these symptoms after eating recalled peanut butter:

  • Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Diarrhea for more than three days that is not improving
  • Bloody diarrhea
  • So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down
  • Signs of dehydration (such as not urinating much, dry mouth and throat, feeling dizzy when standing up)
Businesses are being asked to not sell or serve recalled peanut butter. They should also wash and sanitize all containers and surfaces that may have come in contact with impacted products.

Jif also released a statement, which also provides a full list of potentially contaminated products, and are asking consumers to check product packaging for the product lot code range of 1274425 – 2140425. For products within this range, Jif said they are “committed to reimbursing affected consumers.”

They have created a recall contact form, which can be accessed at this link.

After submitting the recall form for an impacted product, consumers are asked to dispose of it immediately.

Consumers who have questions or would like to report adverse reactions may contact Jif through its contact form or at 800-828-9980 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. EST.

Jif further stated:

Our top priority is ensuring our consumers understand the details of the recall and are supported. We recognize your trust, and our reputation are built on our fundamental commitment to high standards for ingredients and manufacturing.
