CEDAR CITY — A registered sex offender who was released from a halfway house less than a month ago and had been in Cedar City for only two days has been arrested after police say he sexually assaulted his new roommate.

Gerald Anthony Allen, 48, was booked into the Iron County Jail Tuesday for investigation of forcible sodomy and sexual battery.

“The 19-year-old victim stated that Gerald just moved in two days ago and works for the same company as him and all the subjects in the apartment,” a police booking affidavit states.

The men returned home from work late Monday and the 19-year-old man took a shower. When he got out, Allen approached him and began giving him a massage, the affidavit states. The alleged victim said “he thought it was weird, but did not want to be rude.”
