Shortly after 3 p.m. MDT, fire crews were dispatched to a vehicle fire reported at a residence in Scenic involving a 2011 Can-Am Spyder, a three-wheeled motorcycle, that was burning in front of the home, Beaver Dam Littlefield Fire Capt. Ernesto Renteria told St. George News.

Firefighters arrived to find that most of the fire was already out, and then set to work to completely  extinguish any residual flames and smoldering to prevent a reignition.

The Spyder was completely destroyed, other than the charred handlebars, one wheel and a blue wheel cover that were the only recognizable features left on the motorcycle.

At the time of the blaze, the bike was parked in the garage and when the owner went near the vehicle, he could feel heat on his leg that appeared to be coming from the engine. Shortly thereafter, the engine area started smoking, which is when the owner pushed the motorcycle out of the garage and away from the home.

As soon as he did so, Renteria said, the bike went up in flames.

The owner called 911 as he began dousing the flames with a garden hose until firefighters arrived.

The home was left undamaged while the Spyder was destroyed in the blaze and no injuries were reported.

Beaver Dam-Littlefield Fire and Ambulance and Arizona Department of Public Safety responded and tended to the scene.

This report is based on statements from police, emergency personnel or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
