CEDAR CITY — Southern Utah University’s football team has announced the recent death of one of its former players.
Taelin Webb, 26, a native of Fresno, California, played cornerback for the Thunderbirds for three years, appearing in 10 games for SUU during his senior year in 2018 and making 36 tackles that season.
In a pair of messages posted on Twitter a day apart, the SUU football team first tweeted a black-and-white photo of Webb in uniform, with the caption, “Our deepest condolences to the Webb family. Forever a T-Bird.”

Then, on Thursday, the team posted a second tweet with two more photos of Webb, along with the message: “Taelin made a significant impact on and off the field at SUU from 2016 to 2018. He will be deeply missed.”

Although Webb reportedly passed away suddenly, further details regarding his death have not yet been made public.
An SUU sports information spokesperson said the university’s athletic department would not be releasing any further information at this time, other than the two social media posts, out of respect for the family’s privacy.
On a GoFundMehe page set up for funeral expenses, fundraiser organizer Taelor Webb posted: “My brother (THEE Taelin Webb) was unexpectedly taken from us, he was so loved and the family knows that. Please help us with his memorial service. Thank you in advance. – the Webb family.”
