Julia ‘JoAnn’ Hunt

July 31, 1951-April 18, 2022

Julia “JoAnn” Hunt was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska, on July 31, 1951. She was the fourth of eight children of Leonard and Eileen Christen. JoAnn married Roger Hunt on Aug. 30, 1969, at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Anselmo, Nebraska. Together they raised their children Renea, Crystal and Troy in Grand Island, Nebraska. In 2005, JoAnn and Roger moved to Grantsville, Utah, and then retired in St. George in 2015.

JoAnn provided child daycare for over 30 years in Grand Island and was also a beloved “lunch lady” in Grantsville at the high school. She loved her hobbies of painting wood crafts and creating beautiful floral arrangements. She had a passion for Pro Bull Riding and loved to attend the national finals. After retiring, JoAnn and Roger took the opportunity to travel to many places, including Hawaii, the Caribbean, the Grand Canyon, the Redwood Forest as well as often visiting their kids. JoAnn loved to share her travel adventures with her friends over morning coffee. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

She is survived by her husband Roger of St. George; daughter Renea Fikar and son Troy Hunt, both of Fort Worth, Texas; grandson Alex and great-grandson Brian Fikar of Lincoln, Nebraska.
