ST. GEORGE — Area residents have the opportunity to be heard on the subject of a potential new interchange at Interstate 15 and 700 South to “improve regional mobility in the St. George area,” according to a news release from the Utah Department of Transportation.
The public is invited to attend a public scoping meeting to share feedback about their transportation needs in this area, ask questions and learn more about the process and timeline, the news release said.
Both an online and in-person format will be available, with the same information presented at both meetings. Materials will be posted on the study website after the meetings, which will be staged as follows:
- Online meeting: May 3, 6-7 p.m., via Zoom. Attendees should register in advance on the study website:
- In-person open house: May 4, 4-6 p.m. at Atwood Innovation Plaza at Dixie State University, 453 South 600 East, St. George.
According to the news release:
UDOT is preparing an Environmental Assessment, according to the National Environmental Policy Act, to determine the need for a new interchange on I-15 and 700 South, evaluate potential interchange alternatives, and identify any corresponding impacts.
The public comment period runs April 18-May 17. Public input will help UDOT understand citizens’ transportation needs and develop interchange alternatives. Comments can be submitted in person at the scoping meetings, online on the study website, emailed to I15StGeorge@utah.gov, or mailed to I-15 Study Team, 6605 S. Redwood Road, No. 200, Salt Lake City, UT, 84123.
A public hearing is planned for fall 2022. The study is anticipated to be completed in winter 2022-23.
