ST. GEORGE — A main thoroughfare and several roundabouts will be closed in St. George beginning Sunday night through Tuesday for what the city of St. George is calling “pavement preservation treatment.”
Beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday, Main Street from just south of the intersection with St. George Boulevard to just south of the roundabout on Tabernacle will be closed.
Two roundabouts will also be closed during that time; the roundabout at Diagonal Street and Main Street and the roundabout at Skyline/Hope Street and Main Street.
Detours will be marked in those areas. Businesses and residential properties will be accessible using sidewalks.
In a Facebook post, the city said, “Marked detours will be placed to direct traffic around the closures. This treatment is important because it helps prolong the life of the asphalt surface and saves the City of St. George money on costly asphalt pavement replacement.”
The closure will continue until Tuesday at 6 p.m.
