ST. GEORGE — A former St. George man is planning to donate a portion of the proceeds from his new novel “Awakened” in an effort to assist doctors working on the front lines in Ukraine.

Aaron Hall, an Amazon best-selling author who now lives in Lehi, is set to release the third novel in his trilogy “The Wevlian Chronicles” on April 2.

Hall will donate the entirety of his first-month proceeds from this new novel “Awakened” to Doctors Without Borders in an effort to assist doctors on the front lines in Ukraine. He will also include all royalties from the book’s presale in the charitable donation.

This isn’t the first time Hall has donated to charity his proceeds from his publications.

For the trilogy’s second book “Purged,” which was released last year, Hall donated his first month’s profits directly to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Hall chose to gift his royalties to this cause to honor a close friend who nearly ended his life in 2019.

“With this year in Ukraine, I’m not a big fan of the conflict going on over there so I decide to do the same thing as last year … And this time donate it to Doctors Without Borders,” he said. “They have been on the ground in Ukraine providing relief for victims of that crisis.”

Hall told St. George News that as this is the culmination of a fantasy trilogy, he’s excited about its release. But being able to give back adds another layer.

“It feels more fulfilling that way,” he said.

Hall moved to St. George when he was 7 years old and remained a resident until he transferred from Dixie State University to the University Valley University at age 23.

He said his interest in writing was sparked in fourth grade when he was given the assignment to write a Halloween story. Shortly after, during a parent-teacher conference, his teacher raved about his writing to his parents. It was at that moment he realized his love and talent for writing.

“Then, in the sixth grade, I wrote a novella about my friends and started writing my first novel at 15,” he said. “I completed the first draft of this novel in high school and published it soon after my (church) mission. Writing has been a consistent part of my life, digging into books on a daily basis and setting goals to release a new book every year.”

After graduating from Pine View High School in 2010, Hall attended Dixie State University for Motion Picture Production. During this time, he served on the Institute Council, student government and worked on local film productions in Washington County.

The Wevlian Chronicles

The Wevlian Chronicles is a three-part series that took 15 years to complete, he said. The series follows a child who is foreordained by a dragon god to be the next king of the kingdom that has fallen apart under the rule of tyranny.

Hall further described that in book one, “Foreordained, the main character is being tested for the throne while also dealing with an internal struggle of rising up to responsibilities with the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders.

In book two, “Purged,” the kingdom goes to war against a neighboring kingdom and includes family disagreements and drama when it comes to the proper heir to the throne. The third and final book in the series, “Awakened, features a disgruntled soldier seeking misguided revenge on a beloved king, resulting in a string of lies and murder.

“Awakened” will be released to the public on April 2. The presale of “Awakened” is available now.
