ST. GEORGE — Five of the seven girls basketball teams in Region 10 are visiting the northern end of the state this weekend for three successive days of games against the various teams of Region 11. As Friday night’s games wrapped up, Hurricane was the only Southern Utah team to go 2-0 against the teams from the Cache Valley area. Following are brief recaps of Thursday’s and Friday’s matchups, followed by Saturday’s scores.
Hurricane 47, Mountain Crest 36
At Mountain Crest, Hurricane’s Madi Slack scored 13 points, while teammate Adri Gubler added 11 as the Tigers defeated the Mustangs. The game was tied 18-18 at halftime, but Hurricane pulled away with a 15-6 run during the third period. Lindy Erickson added eight points and collected nine rebounds for Hurricane, which improved to 4-2 overall.
Green Canyon 68, Dixie 55
After a close first half, Green Canyon broke the game open by outscoring the Flyers 22-9 during the third. Dixie’s Kealah Faumuina scored 26 points, while teammate Hali Smith added 17 for the Flyers.
Desert Hills 47, Sky View 43
At Sky View, Desert Hills picked up a four-point win over the Bobcats. Three players scored in double figures for the Thunder, as Enid Vaifanua scored 13, Julia Jacobson added 12 and Sa’de Turlington had 10.
Snow Canyon 65, Logan 35
At Logan, Snow Canyon used a 19-2 run in the second quarter to pull away from the Grizzlies for good. Freshman guard Olivia Hamlin led the way with 15 points for the Warriors, with Fetu Tapasa adding 13 and Kelly Howard making 11.
Ridgeline 53, Pine View 29
At Ridgeline, the undefeated Riverhawks opened up a 15-5 lead over Pine View during the first quarter and cruised to their ninth straight win. Avery Gustin and Ashley Clark each scored seven points for the Panthers.
Hurricane 63, Logan 20
At Logan, the Hurricane Tigers led by one point at the end of the first period, but went on an 18-1 run during the second to keep the Grizzlies winless on the season. Addi Crandall led the Tigers with 13 points, with Lindy Erickson and Madi Slack each adding 11. Slack and Nizhoni Dominguez each grabbed seven rebounds as Hurricane improved to 5-2 overall.
Bear River 47, Snow Canyon 45
At Bear River, Snow Canyon held a four-point lead with two minutes to go but ended up losing by two to the Bears.
Snow Canyon coach Dan Roden said his team missed two layups and three free throws during the last two minutes.
He called the game “a learning experience about mental toughness.”
The Warriors dropped to 5-3 overall with the loss.
Ridgeline 51, Desert Hills 47
The Riverhawks stayed undefeated at 9-0 with a close win at home over Desert Hills. Guard Emilee Skinner scored nearly half of Ridgeline’s points, pouring in 25, while Sa’de Turlington led the Thunder with 15 points. Desert Hills fell to 4-4 overall with the loss.
Green Canyon 61, Pine View 33
At Green Canyon, Maren McKenna scored 25 points and Cambree Tensmeyer added 19 as the Wolves rolled to a decisive win over Pine View, which dropped to 3-4 overall. Scoring in double figures for the Panthers were Ellie Norton with 11 points and Ashlyn Clark with 10.
Mountain Crest 62, Dixie 37
At Mountain Crest, the Mustangs jumped out to a 23-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Dixie’s Kealah Faumuina scored 22 points, more than half the Flyers’ total.
Following is Saturday afternoon’s scores for the Northern Utah games featuring Region 10 vs. Region 11 teams:

- Green Canyon 69, Hurricane 53.
- Sky View 60, Pine View 47.
- Snow Canyon 55, Mountain Crest 41.

Other Region 10 action
The other two Region 10 teams, Cedar and Crimson Cliffs, stayed closer to home as they each played one nonregion contest this week. Crimson Cliffs lost at Kanab 84-40 on Thursday, while Cedar defeated Tooele 49-23 on Friday night. Against Tooele, Braylee Peterson scored 12 for the Reds, while Haylee Campbell added 11 as Cedar improved to 4-3 overall.
