No Filter: Getting hairy for prostate health awareness during No-Shave November

ST. GEORGE — Another episode of “No Filter,” another hair-raising adventure for host Grady Sinclair.

This time around, Sinclair and his buddies, including Cloud 9 owner Brendon Gunn, pledged to put down their razors and get hairy for a whole month to raise awareness of men’s health and prostate cancer.

At the beginning of the month, the group visited Kaiden Campbell, aka “The Tall Barber,” at Tyler’s Barbershop on Sunland Drive in St. George for their starting shave. Over the next four weeks, each took selfies of their beard growth. Some of the Canyon Media crew joined in as well.

No-Shave November is a month-long journey during which participants forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness. The goal is to grow visibility by embracing hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.

The American Cancer Society recommends that men at average risk for prostate cancer discuss screenings with their health care provider starting at age 50. Men with a higher risk of developing prostate cancer, such as those with a family history of the disease, should typically be screened earlier. Talk to your doctor about the benefits, risks and uncertainties of being screened for prostate cancer.
