CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — McMullin Injury Law is once again sponsoring a Secret Santa giveaway to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the families in Southern Utah who need it most. As with previous years, they’ll provide the money, and you provide the miracle.

“We started this doing this in 2014, and it’s based around the idea that sometimes those of us who have the least actually want to give the most,” managing partner Andrew Spainhower said. “We’ve all known families around us throughout our lives who could probably use a little help at Christmastime, but maybe budgets were a little tight in our own family so we weren’t able to help as much as we really would have liked to. This program solves that problem.”

McMullin Injury Law invites Southern Utahns to nominate neighbors, friends, co-workers, relatives – any families they know who are facing financial challenges. The firm provides the funding so you can serve as their Secret Santa this holiday season.

Nominations will be accepted through Dec. 12. Submitting a family is simple: Just fill out the nomination form on the firm’s website, sharing as much of the nominee’s story as possible to illustrate the need. People may also nominate themselves if their own families could use a hand. Submissions are kept completely confidential.

“We need people to take two minutes of their time to nominate a family they know so that together, we can help as many people as possible this year,” Spainhower said.

On Dec. 13, the team at McMullin Injury Law will review the submissions and select the recipients. This year, the firm has teamed up with several other local businesses to help more families than ever before. The goal is to provide funding for upwards of 30 families this year. Most winners will receive $250 in cash and gift cards, while a few families with greater need will receive $500.

The cash and gift cards are provided to the person who submitted the nomination.

“There are no directions, rules or restrictions on how they may use the money,” founding partner Anthony McMullin said. “They can give the cash and gift cards directly to the family in need or do some Christmas shopping on their behalf, and it can be a complete surprise if they wish.”

The local businesses partnering with McMullin Injury Law to make the program even bigger this year include Vibrant Management, the Whiplash Center of Utah, Frei Team Real Estate, Auto Matrixx, Eagle Gate Title and Carson Hunt with Farm Bureau Financial Services.

“We grew up in this community, and we know that it’s usually people who don’t have much that would really give you the shirt off their back if you needed it,” Spainhower said. “We’ve been blessed enough to build a successful law firm in this community, so this program is a way to empower the real heroes in our community by just giving them some funding and getting out of the way so they can help the families they know who really need it.”

McMullin said the members of the firm look forward to the Secret Santa event each holiday season. Over the years, they have provided tens of thousands of dollars to families who otherwise wouldn’t have any presents to open on Christmas morning.

“It’s pretty heart-wrenching to read the nominations and not be able to help everybody, because there’s a lot of need,” he added.

McMullin said he and Spainhower have been very fortunate to build a successful law firm in their native St. George. Today, their law firm has grown to become one of the largest local law firms in Southern Utah. It includes a staff of 16, including six attorneys as well as two additional partners, Nate Langston and Kigan Martineau. Their main office is located in downtown St. George, and they have a satellite office in Cedar City.

McMullin Injury Law focuses exclusively on personal injury law and helping people deal with insurance claims properly after suffering a car accident or another unfortunate event.

The last couple of years have been unpredictable and challenging for many people, and McMullin said he is very excited to be a part of making Christmas a little better for local families this year.
