“It’s an honor,” Andrew Spainhower, managing partner at McMullin Injury Law, said. “We value our relationships in Iron County; we do quite a bit of business up there.”

He said the firm’s main office in St. George has been around for nine years, and they’ve had an office in Cedar City for six years.

“We appreciate being recognized for our involvement in Cedar City.”

Spainhower said people in Cedar City tend to get a little bit mistreated by insurance companies after a car accident.

“So our Cedar City clients tend to be some of our most appreciative clients. We end up having strong relationships with them because they needed help, and we were able to make a big difference for them,” he said.

He added that people have appreciated being able to sit down with an attorney in person, “from that first phone call through a free consultation of their options and how things are supposed to work.”

“People have been very appreciative to have access to good legal help right there on Main Street.”

The firm has deep roots in Southern Utah. Four of their five attorneys graduated from Dixie High School.

“This helps us to relate to people a little bit better,” Spainhower said. “It helps them realize, when you get in a crash, suddenly it’s the attorney that’s on your team, and the insurance company is on the other team. I feel like we embody the ideals of the Southern Utah community. And then we just happen to be lawyers.”

The founding partner of McMullin Injury Law is Anthony McMullin, who was raised in St. George. McMullin completed coursework for a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in public relations at Southern Utah University in 2006. After college, he was accepted to the Claude W. Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University. He earned his juris doctorate in 2008.

During law school, McMullin honed his research skills as a research assistant for Professor Bruce C. French, a law professor and licensed practicing attorney.

Spainhower graduated from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. While in law school, he was a Dean’s Recruitment Award recipient and a Charles E. Jones Scholar recipient. He also earned the Pedrick Scholar Award for excellence in academic achievement and served as the judicial intern for Judge Bruce R. Cohen of the Maricopa County Superior Court.

His legal practice focuses primarily on personal injury, worker’s compensation and civil litigation. Before moving to Arizona for law school, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public communication from Dixie State University. While there, he earned the Dean’s Scholarship.

When it comes to their clientele, Spainhower said Southern Utahns aren’t looking for a handout and usually try to downplay their issues, so he gets satisfaction from being a champion for that hard-working, blue-collar type of spirit. He helps clients get adequately compensated after a crash.

Utah is a no-fault state. State laws require each driver’s own insurance company to pay for any medical bills for treatment reasonably related to injuries sustained in a car accident. This coverage is called personal injury protection or PIP, and Spainhower said it will be the first insurance to take care of injuries after an accident. The PIP limit is $3,000, and if you’re injured to the extent that you require more than $3,000 in medical bills, you may need to hire an experienced accident attorney.

Along with car accidents, the attorneys at McMullin Injury Law represents clients injured in motorcycle accidents and dog bites. They also have experience in worker’s compensation and medical malpractice cases.
