Krishnamurthy – or as patients know her, “Dr. Priya” – said she’s very excited to partner with Vista Healthcare to bring endocrinology services to Southern Utah. Endocrinology is an underserved specialty in many communities, including the St. George area, she said, with many patients currently traveling to either Las Vegas or Salt Lake City for care.

“There’s a lot of need,” she said.

Krishnamurthy expects to start seeing patients as part of Vista Healthcare in early November. Her practice will manage the entire spectrum of adult endocrinology, including diabetes, thyroid disorders such as Hashimoto’s disease, osteoporosis and calcium deficiency.

Endocrinology is the study of hormones and the synchrony between each of the endocrine organs and their effect on metabolic processes in the body. Krishnamurthy works to regulate and balance the hormonal system through diagnostic work-ups, select medications and lifestyle changes.

Krishnamurthy attended medical school at the University of Delhi in India and completed a double residency in internal medicine and preventive medicine through the Yale-Griffin Program, a collaborative effort between Yale University and Griffin Hospital in Connecticut. She also holds a master’s degree from the Yale School of Public Health, where she majored in the epidemiology of obesity and diabetes. Additionally, she completed a three-year fellowship in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism through the NIDDK division at the National Institutes of Health.

As an endocrinologist with a foundation in internal medicine, preventive medicine and public health, Krishnamurthy offers a unique approach that combines high-quality clinical medicine with a focus on prevention and lifestyle management. She has worked as an endocrinologist since 2007. Her varied background includes a successful private practice along with work for the federal government and university hospital systems.

Krishnamurthy relocated to St. George from Tualatin, Oregon, where she managed a comprehensive metabolic medicine center. She was drawn to Vista Healthcare by the cohesion among the specialists and the caliber of care provided. The group’s model allows physicians to focus on practicing medicine rather than spending hours on quasi-medical work like charting that takes valuable time away from patients.

Over the course of her nearly 30-year career in medicine, Krishnamurthy said she has seldom encountered a practice that offers such comprehensive support to both patients and providers. She shares a vision with the founders and physicians at Vista Healthcare of building an accessible network of specialty care to improve the health of the community.

“It seemed an invaluable opportunity,” she added. “For me, that combination of traits and values is a very admirable and rare thing.”

Vista Healthcare offers an exciting new view on medical care in Southern Utah. The group is now accepting patients and scheduling appointments. Along with endocrinology, available specialties include neurology, rheumatology, spine and pain management, primary care, sports medicine, physical therapy and chiropractic care.

Services will be located in the Vista Medical Center, located at 2891 E. Mall Drive next to the Revere Health Center. The Vista Medical Center is expected to open this fall.

Vista Healthcare recognizes the needs of the growing community and understands that many patients with complex healthcare needs currently face extended wait times to see specialists to help manage their medical needs. The group seeks to provide improved access to specialty care resources for patients across Southern Utah and surrounding areas.
