CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Now is the time to invest in your skin. Did you know that smoother, tighter skin is possible – with far less risk, cost and downtime than cosmetic surgery?
Resurfacing, combined with laser tightening, can change the look and feel of your skin and restore its healthy, youthful glow. At Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser, owner Shannon Evans uses the Profound Lift in conjunction with the CO2RE skin resurfacing system to create the optimal skin treatment, a targeted attack on problem areas both superficial and structural.
“Everyone has different skin care concerns, because no one is the same,” she said. “I consider it an art.”
Wintertime is the best time
Nearly all laser treatments leave skin highly sensitive and prone to irritation, and sun exposure too soon after a procedure can also compromise the results. Given the shorter days and colder temperatures, Evans said that November through March is the perfect time to enjoy the benefits of skin rejuvenation without sacrificing time in the sun.
No tan? No problem! Many lasers target blemishes and areas of hyperpigmentation based on their light wavelength. As such, treatments may be more effective on paler skin. Evans recommends avoiding self-tanners and sitting out in the sun while undergoing laser skin rejuvenation this winter.
Laser skin tightening
Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser is the only medical spa in St. George offering Profound, an energy-based laser skin tightening therapy that can turn back the hands of time. It’s the treatment of choice for restoring youthful, vibrant skin, Evans said, adding that most patients enjoy remarkable results for many years with just one session.
Profound treats the lower third of the face along with lifting sagging jowls and skin under the neck while contouring the jawline to eliminate “double chin.” Evans said it can boost elastin levels by up to five times and is the only FDA-approved device on the market with a 100% response rate for facial wrinkles.
Laser skin resurfacing
CO2RE fractional laser resurfacing removes layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method, meaning that columns of skin are removed but the surrounding skin remains intact to aid in healing. The CO2RE system helps reduce age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, textural irregularities and dull tone as well as improving skin laxity. Evans said it’s the best single treatment for advanced skin damage and wrinkling.
The CO2RE laser precisely targets and treats superficial, middle and deep skin layers simultaneously, which Evans said helps provide the most appropriate procedure with the best possible results for each facial area during the same treatment.
A winning combination
Profound targets the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, while the CO2RE laser targets the upper layer of the skin for overall skin tightening and reduction in age spots, lines and wrinkles.
“The combination of Profound and CO2RE is the ultimate skin rejuvenation treatment,” Evans said.
