Downtown Furniture, which owner Josh Leishman calls “the biggest little furniture store in Southern Utah,” specializes in selling name-brand furniture at unbeatable prices. Downtown Furniture currently has more furniture in stock than ever before. At the start of the pandemic, Leishman observed supply chain shortages and delivery delays that threatened to eventually leave him with an empty store. Drawing on 22 years of experience in the furniture business, he made the informed decision to order a surplus of items in advance. 

“I made a year’s worth of sofa purchases six different times,” he said. “That’s why I have the luxury of having a store that’s full.” 

Leishman said orders he placed between four and six months ago are still arriving. As extended delays continue to plague the industry, Downtown Furniture has plenty of living room, bedroom and dining room furnishings along with mattresses, office furniture, kids’ furniture and accent pieces to choose from. They carry a large selection of recliners and moving sectionals, sofas and loveseats. 

Most furniture stores only have a floor model on display to attract potential buyers. Once the customer decides on a piece they like, the store places an order to have it shipped to them, which takes weeks or longer. But Downtown Furniture sells their floor models and has much more in local storage. Leishman said their St. George and Cedar City showrooms are full and their warehouses are packed with furniture available to customers right now. 

“If a customer likes something, they can take it home that day,” he added. 

Downtown Furniture delivers locally for free and offers complimentary same-day or next-day delivery of any purchase over $500 between St. George and Cedar City.

“We love working with people,” manager Taylor Andelin said. “It’s one of our favorite parts about the business, helping them figure out their living rooms or whatever it may be.”
