‘We can cut a check the same day’: Stephen Wade Auto Center buys cars of any make and model

“We make it really easy for people to sell us their vehicle at a fair market value price,” said Herb Anderson, marketing director for the Stephen Wade Auto Center. “In most cases, we can cut a check the same day.” 

Selling your car to Stephen Wade Auto Center is a simple three-step process: get a free valuation, bring your vehicle for inspection, and get a check.

Anderson says interested sellers should start with the online valuation tool, which provides a free valuation of your vehicle. The dealership partners with trusted resources like KSL Cars, Kelley Blue Book and Carfax to validate all estimates.

“Often times, a shopper’s perception is that dealerships are trying to take advantage of customers, and that couldn’t be further from the truth,” Anderson said. “It’s in our best interest to make you the best offer possible.” 

Another common misconception is that a private party sale will guarantee the seller more cash, Anderson said. Vehicles are a depreciating asset that continually loses value. Time is money, and the market ebbs and flows on a daily basis. 

“The best way to describe a used car is like ice – it’s always melting,” he added. “If you need cash, don’t take a chance with your money.” 

The second step is to bring your vehicle in for appraisal at any Stephen Wade dealership in St. George. The appraisal team will thoroughly inspect and test-drive the car before making an offer. 

Don’t worry about spending money to fix dents, dings and scratches before the appraisal. Anderson said these minor flaws don’t negatively impact a car’s valuation as much as some customers think they do. Just get it washed and bring it in.

“If you need to invest hundreds of dollars to get your vehicle in tip-top shape, it’s a waste,” he said, “because a dealership can do all of that for much cheaper.” 

The last step is to get your check and get on with whatever else you need to do, whether that’s hitching a ride home or buying a new or used vehicle from the Stephen Wade family of dealerships. 

“If you have negative equity on your vehicle and need to purchase another car from us, we can make that process smooth,” Anderson said. “If you have positive equity, you can buy a vehicle and ask for that equity back. So you could walk out of the dealership with a brand new car and money in hand.”
