Last Kmart in Utah expected to close its doors in St. George

ST. GEORGE — The last Kmart in Utah, located in St. George, will close its doors before the end of the year. Earlier this month, Transform Holdco, the privately-owned company that acquired Sears Holdings Corporation’s assets this year, announced the closure of five Kmart locations and a number of Sears stores across the country.

St. George City Councilman Joe Bowcutt dies unexpectedly at age 76

ST. GEORGE —St. George City Councilman Joe Bowcutt died unexpectedly Saturday morning at the age of 76.
The councilman has served as a member of the St. George City Council since 2013 and has also served on the Planning Commission, according to a statement from the city.

Police officer injured after being struck by carjacking suspect

SANTA CLARA — A Santa Clara/Ivins Police officer was transported to the hospital after being struck by a suspect who fled the scene of a crash in a hijacked vehicle.

Rollover on Old Hwy 91 sends 2 to hospital

ST. GEORGE — Two people were transported to the hospital after an attempt to pass a slower-moving vehicle on Old Highway 91 turned into a rollover Friday evening.
At around 8 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a rollover on Old Highway 91 at milepost 13 near Littlefield, Arizona that reportedly involved a passenger car and a pickup truck towing a trailer, Ryan Moore, a firefighter with the Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire District, said.
