Marvella (Denning) Naylor

Marvella (Denning) Naylor, 82, passed away July 13, 2019 in St. George, Utah.

She was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Kanab, Utah, to Bert Jones Denning and Bernice Lovica Pratt, the second of four children. Both of her parents died by the time she was a teenager, and in 1953, she became the foster daughter of Harold and Beth Beck.

She graduated from Olympus High School in Utah County. She also attended college for a time at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various callings in the church throughout her life. In 1956 she married Willard Raymond Allen in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and together they had six children.

Later, on June 7, 1996, she married Karl Glen Naylor in the San Diego California Temple. The two of them served several missions together for the church, including missions in St. George, Croatia and West Virginia.

Marvella was a very industrious person and conducted several different businesses throughout her life. She had opportunities to travel throughout the world and lived in various places, including American Samoa, Alaska and numerous other places in the United States.

Marvella is survived by her loving husband, Karl, her sisters Marjorie (Denning) Shontell and Linda (Beck) Meadows and brothers Joseph Denning, David Humphries, John Beck and Ken Beck; her children – Raydene D’Addabbo, Marrae Brunner, Steven Allen, Dallas Allen, Blair Allen, Rebecca Marks, Linda Naylor, Lisa Naylor-Delgado, and Christopher Naylor; 14 granddaughters, 22 grandsons, 29 great-granddaughters, 24 great-grandsons, one great-great-granddaughter, two great-great-grandsons. Marvella was preceded in death by her brother Richard Pratt Denning.

  • Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday July 20th, at the Red Cliffs 8th Ward Chapel located at 625 E. Center St in Ivins, Utah, with a viewing at 9:30 a.m.
