ST. GEORGE — It’s no secret that summer is the best time of year to buy a new car, but this July, the Stephen Wade Auto Group is making the deals even sweeter with a chance to win a total of $20,000 in prizes during their 4th annual “Red Tag” sales event.
At the first of three weeks of parties Saturday morning, hundreds of hopefuls joined deejays from 99.9 KONY, 105.1 the Planet, 95.9 the Hawk and Sunny 101.5 at Stephen Wade Toyota to help celebrate as local mother Nancy Wilson walked away with $5,000 cash in her pocket.
Wilson, who qualified by listening to Planet 105.1, was cheering with excitement as KONY’s Carl Lamar read the final number of a reverse drawing held inside the lobby of the dealership. Tears welled up in her eyes as she fanned out the crisp, green bills presented to her by KONY morning show host Amy Chesley and Stephen Wade Auto Center’s marketing director, Jamie Bahlmann.
With her daughter smiling nearby, Wilson said she didn’t think she would have the prize money very long.
“I’m going to buy my daughter a new car,” Wilson said.
The runner-up winner also didn’t walk away empty-handed, having received a $1,500 gift card from the event’s co-sponsor Canyon Media. In fact, every qualifier walked away with a prize, and movie tickets are being given away every day during the event. Stephen Wade has slashed prices on nearly all of their new and used cars during the three-week event. Whether you’re in the market for some rock-crawling fun in a new Toyota Tacoma or a cruise around town in a sleek 2019 Honda Accord, the deals are hotter than temps outside and can be found online anytime.
There are still two more weeks left in the event, with $10,000 cash and tons of prizes still on the line. Bahlmann hopes everyone will have some fun and qualify by liking and following any Stephen Wade dealership, including Mercedes Benz of St. George, on social media and then taking a picture of a Stephen Wade red tag or a “selfie” at any of the red tag locations around town and posting it to social media with #WadeRedTag.
Selfie stations are easy to find at Red Cliffs Mall, all three local movie theaters (Pineview Stadium 10, Sunset Corner Stadium 8, Main Street Cinema 6), the Washington City Community Center, Sand Hollow Aquatics Center and Bloomington Country Club.

No purchase is necessary, but you must be present to win. Bahlmann said they anticipate inviting 125 qualifiers to the next two giveaways, which will be held at Stephen Wade Chevrolet on July 20 and at Stephen Wade Honda on July 27, both taking place at 10 a.m.
