ST. GEORGE — Police responded to a report of attempted sexual assault Monday night and are asking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the area of 150 E. Tabernacle Street, St. George Police officer Tiffany Atkin said.

The situation involved a male suspect attempting to grab a woman from behind, Atkin said. The woman yelled, and the man fled the scene heading east.

Police searched the scene but were unable to locate the suspect or any other witnesses to the event.

The suspect is described as being a light-skinned male with wavy hair. He was reportedly wearing dark pants, white shoes, a sleeveless shirt and a hat.

“There was no contact with any witnesses last night so we are asking for any to come forward,” Atkin said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the St. George Police dispatch line at 435-627-4300 and reference incident No. 19P017786.
