CEDAR CITY — Hundreds of people, many decked out in red, white and blue, lined Cedar City’s Main Street Thursday morning to celebrate Independence Day.

Parade participants in period costume dressed as famous patriots as they reenacted scenes from the country’s early years, including the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Several modern-day politicians, including some candidates for this year’s municipal elections, also greeted the crowds. Many handed out candy or other goodies as the procession went by.

Other parade participants included rodeo queens, musicians, high school cheerleaders, vintage car owners and distinguished veterans of the Armed Forces. Numerous Little League baseball and softball players, many representing local all-star teams, soaked bystanders with jets of water from their super-sized squirt guns.

To relive some of the festive moments of today’s parade, check out the video in the player above, along with the photo gallery below, compiled by St. George News/Cedar City News.
