The crash occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m., involving a red Ford Edge SUV being driven by an adult female and a black full-size motorcycle being driven by an adult male.

Cpl. Zac Adams of Cedar City Police Department said the driver of the SUV was heading west on 200 North and preparing to turn left onto southbound Main Street, while the motorcycle was heading east on 200 North.

“The light was yellow, is what witnesses are saying right now,” Adams told Cedar City News at the scene. “The red car turned into the motorcycle. I don’t know exactly how the collision happened, but it appears the red car failed to yield.”

The motorcyclist received medical treatment at the scene by Gold Cross Ambulance personnel, after which he was transported to Cedar City Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Adams said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The SUV driver was reportedly uninjured, but Adams said the woman would likely receive a failure-to-yield citation.

“It’s still under investigation, but most likely they probably will be cited,” he said.

Firefighters from Cedar City Fire Department assisted with the cleanup of the scene, which took more than a half hour to clear. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
