WASHINGTON CITY — An alleged stabbing in Washington City early Sunday morning left one man critically injured and another man in jail on an attempted murder charge.
Update 7:35 p.m. The man who was stabbed is out of surgery and in stable condition at the hospital, Washington City Police Chief Jason Williams told St. George News, adding that no further complications are anticipated at this time.
At 1:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to a residence on the 400 block of Harvest Lane on a reported disturbance, Williams told St. George News.
Police arrived at the home to find a man critically injured with multiple stab wounds, Williams said.
“Because of the multiple stab wounds, officers were able to provide emergency medical help to the victim, and once the ambulance arrived, he was rushed to the hospital,” Williams said.
The man was taken into the operating room at Dixie Regional Medical Center and was still in surgery as of 5 a.m Sunday morning, Williams said.
Also inside the home at the time of the incident was 45-year-old Jason Shawn Reveal, of St. George, who was questioned by officers and then transported to Purgatory Correctional Facility where he was booked on first-degree felony attempted murder, aggravated burglary and three domestic violence-related offenses.
The circumstances of the alleged stabbing are still under investigation, but preliminary information indicates it was related to a domestic situation. Police have been in contact with the Washington County Attorney’s Office to screen the charges filed against Reveal.
Williams said the incident did not cause any threat to public safety and the defendant acted alone. There were no other injuries reported.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office also responded and assisted at the scene.
