ST. GEORGE — A man accused of stealing more than $100,000 from his employer was arrested last week after a two-month investigation by the Mesquite Police Department in Nevada.

Jason Linda, 39, of Mesquite, was arrested June 12 and and booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas on four felony counts of embezzlement, Mesquite Police Sgt. Wyatt Oliver said in a statement released Wednesday.

The charges stem from an incident that began April 3 when the Mesquite Police Department received a report that a former store manager of Lee’s Discount Liquor in Mesquite was embezzling money.

Store supervisors allege the store manager used his position of authority within the company to steal more than $100,000 over the course of a year or more.

Detectives, working closely with Lee’s financial division, were able to collect documents and other evidence sufficient to obtain a warrant for Linda’s arrest.

Officers found him a short time later and took him into custody during a traffic stop.

The successful outcome of the investigation is due in large part to the good working relationship that exists “between local businesses and the Mesquite Police Department, which allows us to collaborate and fight these types of crimes,” the statement said.

“Our detectives will continue to diligently investigate these financial crimes to bring justice and restitution to the victims.”

This report is based on statements from police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
