HURRICANE — Growing up in a musical family, it’s no surprise that Whey Jennings developed a passion for music and lighting up the stage.
Raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, even as a young boy the natural-born vocal talent was driving audiences wild and has been chasing his own love of blues and country music ever since.
Singer and songwriter Jennings and his band Cold Moses are coming to the beautiful Red Rock Bowl at Sand Hollow Resort Friday, June 28, and he told St.George News the group is looking forward to entertaining new people and some old friends.
The show will have something for everyone, young or old, Jennings said.
“Everything about the resort looks incredible. It’s a natural amphitheater so come take a listen and enjoy the scenery and the show,” Jennings said. “Make your eyes and ears happy.”
Bringing their own brand of straight shootin’ outlaw country rock and blues, Jennings will be joined by Rusty Featheringill and Dylan Cornell playing lead guitar, Frizzy strumming bass and Dog on drums. Influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, Bob Seger and of course Whey’s grandfather Waylon Jennings, he said the band loves their name because of how it came about and everything it can be applied to in everyday life.
“We have fun knowing that we really have a true connection with our fans and amongst ourselves,” he said.
The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale now online for the discounted price of $25 for VIP tickets, which includes seats and a special meet and greet with the band after the show.
Seats are available for $10 in the lawn section and the resort welcomes everyone to bring their own chairs and blankets to be comfortable and be ready for an amazing night set against the beauty of the red rocks. Reserve a spot now because prices go up after June 21 to $40 for VIP tickets and $20 for lawn seats.
“We can’t wait to continue our journey and where it may take us. Why? Because we’re Whey Jennings and Cold Moses and music is our bond.”
