ST. GEORGE — St. George city officials have announced the city will once again host the “Star Search Talent Show” as part of the Independence Day festivities.

Those who wish to compete this year will need to audition for a place in the show, which is sponsored by State Bank of Southern Utah. Auditions will be held for all potential performers on June 26 at the St. George Recreation Center beginning at 6 p.m. According to organizers of the show, the top six finalists in each category will earn a slot at the show on July 4 at 10 a.m. and have the chance to be crowned a St. George Star.

Auditions are open to anyone with a “family-friendly” act: singing, dancing, juggling, magic, playing an instrument or dramatic recitation.

“Do you love to perform? Do you want to show it to your fellow citizens? We know you’re out there, so don’t hide your light under a bushel. Try out for the “Star Search Talent Show,” Aaron Metler, recreation coordinator at St. George Leisure Services, said in a press release. “You never know, you could be ‘discovered.’

Cash and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each age category: 9 years and under, 10-17 years old, and 18 years old and over. Judging will be done by a panel of community leaders.

Registration is required prior to the auditions. All interested contestants may register online or pick up an entry form at St. George Leisure Services, located at 220 N. 200 East, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. A $5 entry fee will be collected the evening of auditions, and a full list of show finalists will be emailed to all entrants on June 28.

  • Act cannot exceed 3 1/2 minutes.
  • Entry/audition deadline is Wednesday, June 26 at 5 p.m.
