Fire crews called to condominiums after top-unit deck catches fire

ST. GEORGE — The St. George Fire Department was called to a structure fire started Tuesday from unknown causes.

Just before 2 p.m., fire crews were paged to a structure fire at Gardens South Condominiums off Bluff Street. They arrived to find the exterior wooden deck to the top unit on fire.

According to Deputy Chief Kevin Taylor, firefighters extinguished the fire quickly and were able to keep it from spreading. There was no interior damage.

“The occupants should still be able to live in and stay in the unit,” Taylor said.

Only one of the occupants of the two units affected was home at the time.

Fire officials were unable to confirm the cause of the fire at the time of publishing.

This report is based on statements from police or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
