ST. GEORGE — A motorcyclist was transported by Intermountain Life Flight helicopter to a Dixie Regional Medical Center after an accident near the Utah-Arizona state line.

Medical teams were called near the state line after a motorcyclist sustained severe injuries from an accident on Old Highway 91 near mile marker 6.

According to police, the 47-year-old rider was laying down on the ground when emergency medical services arrived.

First responders called Life Flight after the rider became incoherent and his heart rate was too slow. He was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center. (see Ed. note)

Officials said the rider had abrasions and contusions over his body.

This report is based on statements from police and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Ed. note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified Dixie Regional Medical Center as a Level I trauma center. Officials first reported the man was not wearing a helmet, but family members have informed St. George News he did have his helmet on.
