CEDAR CITY — A 15-year-old male was critically injured when the pickup truck he was driving rolled in Parowan Tuesday morning.
Lt. Del Schlosser of the Iron County Sheriff’s Office said the incident was reported just before 7:30 a.m. on a frontage road adjacent to Interstate 15, between the two Parowan exits. The approximate location of the crash is 200 North and 1000 West, Schlosser said.
“What we know is that he went off the road and appears to have overcorrected,” Schlosser said. “The truck rolled multiple times and ejected him.”
An Intermountain Life Flight helicopter transported the victim, who was reportedly in critical condition, to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. He was the only occupant of the vehicle, police said.
The nature and extent of the driver’s injuries were not available.
The cause of the crash and other details, such as whether the driver had a valid driver license or learner’s permit, are still under investigation, officials said.
Assisting Iron County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the scene were Utah Highway Patrol troopers, along with officers from the Parowan Police Department and Brian Head Marshal’s Office.
This report is based on statements from police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
