The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Monday, when the driver of a white Toyota Tundra was traveling west on Snow Canyon Parkway and suddenly veered across lanes of traffic, St. George Police Sgt. Albert Gilman said.

After the truck drove over the sidewalk and crashed through a fence, it became airborne over some rocks and down into the ravine.

“The vehicle … went off the road on the north side, appears to have overcorrected and shot across lanes of traffic and went off the road into the ravine,” Gilman said.

The driver was injured in the crash and transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

He will likely receive a citation for improper lane travel after being treated for his injuries.

“They’re still investigating it … There could be others depending on what the investigation shows,” Gilman said.

The driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The St. George Fire Department assisted in clearing debris and leaking fluids from the vehicle.
