CEDAR CITY — Cedar Valley Community Theatre is proud to present the new musical, “Bright Star,” with book, music and lyrics by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell.
The musical starts Friday and runs for nine days, from May 31 to June 8, at Cedar City’s Heritage Center Theatre.
According to a news release announcing the production, the bluegrass-inspired musical is described as “an incredible tale of faith, love, and redemption set amid the vibrant, American South at the end of World War II.”
“When literary editor, Alice Murphy, encounters a talented, new writer recently home from the war, she sets out on a journey to understand the past she left behind, and an event that had the power to transform her forever,” the show’s summary states. “Through the eyes of its characters, ‘Bright Star’ explores the extraordinary events in our lives that become the stories we pass down from generation to generation.”
As charmingly funny as it is deeply moving, “Bright Star” is a musical full of rich emotions and beautiful melodies to be treasured for years to come.
