Woman in Hurricane transported to hospital after teen fails to yield

ST. GEORGE  A driver in a two-car collision was transported to the hospital after an accident in Hurricane.

A 68-year-old female driver of a red Nissan Altima was southbound on Old Highway 91 and continuing straight onto Telegraph Street, according to Hurricane City Police officer Ken Thompson.

The driver of a white Pontiac Grand Prix, a 17-year-old female, was northbound on Telegraph Street turning west onto state Route 9 when she failed to yield and collided with the Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Thompson said she was conscious and breathing, but he is unaware of the extent of her injuries.

He said the driver of the Pontiac was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
