What’s on the Menu: ‘Bout Time! Pub and Grub, round 2 | Sponsored by Camping World

FEATURE — ‘Bout Time! Pub and Grub recently won first place in four categories in the 2019 Best of Southern Utah awards.

“I’m way excited that we got Best of Southern Utah,” said Darwin Harrington, owner and general manager of ‘Bout Time’s St. George location, 929 W. Sunset Blvd. “We were nominated in five categories and we won four out of the five, so I feel fantastic about it. What an honor to be recognized by your peers and particularly by the people here in Southern Utah. It’s a great feeling.”

The popular sports bar received top honors from voters for “Best Sports Bar,” “Best Bar and Grill,” “Best Burger” and “Best Chicken Wings.” This meant it was ‘bout time for a rematch, so similar to the “What’s on the Menu” gang’s trip last August, Sheldon Demke decided go a few more rounds with the top-ranked contender.

The duo ordered up a bacon cheeseburger and another popular sandwich known as the Captain Morgan Teriyaki burger, featuring a hamburger topped with a couple of pineapple slices and doused with a rum-based teriyaki sauce.

Accompanying the sandwiches were three sets of chicken wings, two smoked and one breaded, each coated with different sauces including sweet chili and mild barbecue sauce.

“We do have a hotter sauce if you like the hot stuff,” interim kitchen manager David Sorensen said.

He also reflected on the restaurant’s award recognition, calling it a “pretty nice” honor.

“It’s like a pat on the back for doing a good job, so we appreciate that,” he said.

“Every cook here works hard to make sure the food comes out looking good and tasting good,” Sorensen said, adding that the smoked wings are infused with their unique flavor in a six-foot pellet-stove smoker.

Harrington said the restaurant recently added three new salads and four new drinks to its menu, which already features a wide variety of options, including fish and chips, pizza and tacos.

“We’ve got steaks, we’ve got salads, we’ve got pastas and we’ve got a few other pretty crazy items that you normally don’t see on the menu (at a pub),” he said.
