ST. GEORGE— According to police, a semitractor-trailer was run off the pavement by an unknown truck on the off-ramp of the Southern Parkway on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. while the truck was traveling east on the state Route 7 off-ramp near River Road.
“When we got here we found this purple cab semi truck that had kind of ran off the edge of the road into a drainage area and got stuck,” Utah Highway Patrol trooper Jim Jessop said.
The driver of the truck told police he was traveling at a low speed when he had been run off the road by another semi. He told investigators that he had nowhere to go but into the drainage ditch on the right side.
“We don’t have any information on the other truck, have no idea where he is,” Jessop said. “He gave us the name of the company on the truck, but it’s a very common one so I can’t really narrow it down.”
The St. George Fire Department responded to assist in cleaning up a fuel leak on the semi after the incident.
No injuries were reported, and no citations were issued to the driver of the semi.
