The teams competed in the three-day D2 Summit held May 10-12 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Champion Allstars gym owner Cassidy Legg told St. George News

“At this prestigious event, Champion had two of the four teams that attended place high enough to move on to the finals, which no team in St. George has done before.”

The Champion Allstars J-Crew team placed ninth in the nation out of 47 teams in their division, while the Champion Allstars Supremacy squad placed 23rd out of 84 teams, Legg said.

“We are beyond proud of each and every one of these athletes,” Legg added. “They have come and represented not just Champion Allstars well, but St. George, Utah.”

Champion Allstars had four teams comprising 61 girls between the ages of 6-16 who made the trip. The cheerleaders were accompanied by 59 chaperones and five coaches.

“We stayed at Disney World Resort and in between cheering on their friends on the other teams, practicing and competing, they got to spend time in the parks,” Legg said.

It was the third year Champion Allstars has attended the D2 Summit event. The program is wrapping up its sixth season, Legg said, adding that Champion also recently had a mini-team compete at the U.S. Finals in Las Vegas. For more information about Champion Allstars, visit their website.
