Hazardous winter conditions cause road closures in Zion National Park

ST. GEORGE — Due to hazardous winter conditions, roads have been closed until further notice in Zion National Park.

The Zion Mount-Carmel Highway, which is state Route 9 going through the park, is closed from the canyon junction to the east entrance of the park. In addition, the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is also closed north of the Zion Park Lodge.

According to the Zion National Park’s Twitter account, crews are currently working on clearing the roads.

Officials are advising motorists to use caution while driving in areas susceptible to large accumulations of snow, as a winter weather advisory has been extended for parts of Southern Utah.
