ST. GEORGE —  Set to deliver a powerful lineup of speakers and workshops, the third annual “Ignite Your Influence” conference, scheduled for Feb 8-9, will attract women from as far away as Los Angeles and Salt Lake City.

According to a news release about the event, actor and writer Kelsey Scott will give a powerful keynote address, sharing her own story of struggle and triumph in the competitive worlds of film and television.

An Emmy-nominated actress and screenwriter, Scott began her career in the theater scene of her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Best known for her role as Anne Northup in the Oscar-winning film “12 Years A Slave” and her harrowing arc as Wes Gibbins’ mother Rose on “How to Get Away With Murder,” her credits span a diverse collection of projects.

Her television appearances include “NCIS,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “True Detective,” “Army Wives” and Lifetime TV’s “Courage to Soar: The Simone Biles Story.” She can currently be seen on HBO’s “Insecure.” In 2017, she received a primetime Emmy nomination for her role on “Fear the Walking Dead: Passage.”

The Ignite Your Influence conference kicks off with the celebration awards banquet on the evening of Feb. 8 to recognize the exceptionally strong leadership that exists in our community. The evening’s scheduled keynote speaker is Paula Lawrence of Dress for Success.

Things will then move into high gear on Feb. 9 with an all-day conference that is jam-packed with speakers, workshops, and activities that event organizers say will delight and inspire each attendee to embrace the authentic life they imagine for themselves.

“We’re thrilled to welcome a dynamite group of inspirational speakers and workshop leaders to this year’s conference in St. George, all with a shared goal of elevating the women of Southern Utah and making our whole community stronger!” Pam Palermo, president of the Women’s Influence Center, said in the press release. “We are also honored and grateful that RAM Company is the event sponsor of this year’s conference, in support of healthy futures for more than 50,000 women who live in the region.”

Every conference ticket purchased makes it possible for a college student or woman of limited means to attend.  Early registration is recommended.
