Juanita Griffin

Nov. 1, 1935 – Jan. 24, 2019

Juanita Gunn Griffin, 83, passed away Jan. 24, 2019. She was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Columbia, Louisiana, to Mack and Irene Gunn. She married Bennie Charles Griffin June 25, 1953, in Enterprise, Louisiana.

Juanita was raised in Louisiana where she attended  Columbia High School. After marrying Bennie they moved to various cities throughout Louisiana and Mississippi then headed northwest to Montana, Wyoming and Colorado because of Bennie’s work in the oilfields. Her greatest passion was her family as she served them in Christ-like fashion with unconditional love. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking, shopping, listening to old gospel hymns and going to church.

She is survived by her husband Bennie of St. George, Utah; son JR and his wife Brooke of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; son Charles and his wife Cheri of Pratt, Kansas; daughter Lenita and her husband Chet of Richfield, Utah; daughter Edna and her husband Marty of Stafford, Kansas. Juanita is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and one sister. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services

  • Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Spilsbury Mortuary in St. George, Utah.
  • Visitation and viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with funeral following at 11 a.m.
  • Interment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery.
