Laron Berry Wilson

Oct. 19, 1939 – Jan. 15, 2019

Laron Berry Wilson, age 79, passed away at home on Jan. 15, 2019, where he was lovingly cared for by his devoted wife.

Laron was born Oct. 19, 1939, in LaVerkin, Utah, to Wayne Wilson and Amelia Webb. Laron was raised in LaVerkin, Utah, and graduated from Hurricane High School where he was an all-state football player and where he met his beautiful wife, Julia Fish. They were married in 1957 and raised six children.

Laron was a farmer at heart and spent many summers on the East Zion property with his family, building roads, digging ponds and deer hunting. By trade he was an excavator and surveyor, as well as a truck driver where he met many dear friends who knew him as “Toad.”  

Upon retirement, he and Julia loved to traverse the states with their fun-loving traveling companions, where they would discover obscure places. He was devoted to his church callings and loved to be of service.

He is survived by his wife and children Julene Wilson, Tina Spendlove (Loren), Morris Wilson, Michael Wilson (Lisa), Paul Wilson (Jennifer), Linda Wilson, 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is survived by siblings Afton Ballard, Kent Wilson, Dale Wilson and Janet Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sibling.

Funeral services

  • Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, 11 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, Utah. The viewing starts at 9 a.m.
  • Interment will take place immediately following at Hurricane Cemetery.
