ST. GEORGE — A man suspected in a California shooting was stopped and arrested by Utah Highway Patrol troopers on Interstate 15 in Iron County Sunday.
At 4:38 p.m. an “attempt to locate” call was broadcast to police to be on the lookout for the suspect heading into Utah on northbound I-15, Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Chris Bishop said.
According to the broadcast, the 30-year-old man was suspected in a shooting that took place at a residence in San Bernardino in which five individuals were injured.
The suspect was driving a silver Nissan Altima with a large “NISSAN” decal on the rear window. According to the alert, he was believed to be heading toward St. George and was possibly armed with an AK-47 assault rifle.
The car was first spotted on northbound I-15 at milepost 56 as it passed by a UHP trooper heading south. Once the trooper got turned around, he was able to stop the car a few miles north with assistance from Iron County Sheriff’s deputies.
Bishop said the man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Iron County Jail. The Nissan was impounded.
No further information was available at the time of this report.
This report is based on statements from police and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

It is good the officers were able to recognize that the weapon this perp. had in his possession clearly had ” assault ” on its mind. There is just a certain look to them I have heard.
IKR, why dont they just call all guns “Bazookas”… I highly doubt he had a fully automatic AK-47… It would have been noted on the arrest record. They are illegal.
I think this is him, in IC SO jail for “Fugitive from Justice” and MJ drugs. From Victorville, the next town up from San Berdu. What a name! And that hair…
