ST. GEORGE — Sporting his signature Fedora hat, Adam Reader stopped by the Canyon Media studios Thursday morning to discuss his career interviewing musicians and to announce a special promotion for his upcoming show this weekend with singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins.

Reader’s “Professor of Rock Live” concert series is an intimate, conversational-style show that gives the audience a musical night unlike anything they can experience, publicist Del Williams said.

He said Reader has a great ability to bring the best out of an artist and get at the deep, cathartic details of their life.

“Even though he’s (Reader) had several interviews with him, there’s some stuff that they’re going to go over that Kenny hasn’t discussed in public and this audience is going to be able to share it with him as if they were sitting right there in the living room,” Williams said.

“When you’re there and when you’re going through it and whether you’re a big Kenny Loggins fan or have never even heard of him,  you’re going to away going ‘Oh my gosh that’s the way I wish every concert experience went down.’

Reader said he enjoys interviewing Loggins because he is just a real personable guy and will go into great specifics about his songwriting process. He said the show can often go off script and take the crowd to unexpected places.

It’s almost like he can go back in time and relive that moment and everybody gets to relive it with him. It’s just amazing,” Reader said about the last time they did a concert together. “He talked about a song that he wrote when he was going through his divorce and how he tried to tell his kids what they were going through and why they were getting divorced and he choked up. It was a really amazing moment.”

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the newly opened Red Rock Bowl at the Sand Hollow Resort in Hurricane and will be similar to an MTV Unplugged session, where even Reader himself doesn’t know what is going to come out of Loggins’ mouth.

“If you can imagine ‘Danger Zone’ being played acoustically by Kenny, I mean that is just one of the many highlights,” Reader said.

As a special promotion, Canyon Media  and 95.9 The Hawk is offering a discounted price of $99 for tickets through Friday that can be purchased only online at Smithstix. Be sure to include The Hawk’s special promotion code 959 to receive this last chance deal. As a special bonus, the first 25 customers to take advantage of the offer on Thursday and Friday will be entered into a drawing for a special VIP upgrade at the show.

I’ll take a wild guess and say that with 2 days left till the concert, folks weren’t storming the box office to grab tickets priced at $249 – $499.

      I wouldn’t of grabbed a ticket at 99 cents
