IRON COUNTY — A driver escaped injury after rolling their car off Interstate 15 near Cedar City Thursday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol responded to the single-vehicle rollover involving a 2001 Hyundai Elantra at 3:19 p.m. near mile marker 53 on northbound I-15.

The driver of the Hyundai was northbound in the inside lane as another vehicle was also northbound in the outside lane, UHP Sgt. Ryan Bauer said.

As the driver of the other vehicle tried to change lanes, Bauer said, they didn’t see the Hyundai.

To avoid a collision, Bauer said, the Hyundai swerved away, causing the car to slide off the outside shoulder where it rolled and came to rest on its side.

Medical personnel responded to the rollover, but no injuries were reported at the scene.

The man driving the other vehicle stopped after seeing the rollover, Bauer said, adding that while he wasn’t cited, he was listed in the police report as the person who caused the crash.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
