Lt. Del Schlosser of the Iron County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred at the Travel America travel center at 1150 N. 100 West,  just off Interstate 15 Exit 78.

“At approximately 11:35 this morning, Cedar Communications received a phone call about a vehicle burglary here at the TA,” Schlosser told Cedar City News. “Multiple individuals were found entering multiple vehicles.”

“Officers arrived on scene and confronted them. An altercation occurred, and during that altercation shots were fired by one of the officers on scene.”

According to information released by the sheriff’s office Friday afternoon, the officer who fired his weapon was Enoch City Police Corporal Jeremy Dunn. Two suspects – a man and a woman – were involved in the confrontation, but only the woman was shot. She had been holding a screwdriver in her hand, according to the statement.

A third suspect, a man who authorities say was involved in the vehicle burglaries, but not the confrontation that led to the shooting, reportedly fled the scene on foot and was at large for nearly six hours before being arrested in Parowan shortly before 6 p.m.

  • hiker75 June 28, 2018 at 9:47 pm

Nice to read an article when an officer wounds a suspect instead of killing.

    • 42214 June 28, 2018 at 11:09 pm

It’s a lot cheaper to kill them and reduces residivism.

    • RadRabbit June 29, 2018 at 10:18 am

Easy way to avoid being shot, don’t be a piece of human debris. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

    Vegas trash blowing north

I’m with Hiker on this. It’s good to see they didn’t have to kill the guy. I’m originally from California (sorry) and there is was common for multiple officers to shoot at a suspect multiple times and still miss. True story, one time a few (3-4) years ago in the L.A. area police surrounded a vehicle (a large white Chevy Suburban) that they had just chased and stopped. When the driver inside made a threatening move, the officers opened fire. Reports stated that 77 shots were fired …..NOT ONE SHOT EVEN HIT THE VEHICLE ! didn’t even break a window. They were digging bullets out of nearby building, trees, grass, etc.

      hahahahah. “hands up, don’t shoot!”

    • 42214 June 29, 2018 at 12:58 pm

Not a true story, you are fake news. The shooting you are referring to happened 2-15-97 in Ohio. The Kehoe brothers shooting. So be carefull when you say “true story”.

  • 42214 June 29, 2018 at 10:24 pm

Mike P, tell me more about your true story. You are so full of crap.

    • Mike P June 30, 2018 at 9:20 am

42214. Sorry, but it really is true, I was there, and I tend to believe what I see with my own eyes. I honestly do not have the time to go thru all the public/police records to find the info you request, I didn’t think that some day I would have to “prove” anything to you. I am sure however , that if YOU do some research, you’d be able to find something on it. It was all over the local news when it happened. I’m also pretty sure you could easily find locals in the L.A. area that remember it also. I know 3 individuals as well as my wife that remember it. Unfortunately, we didn’t record the incident for you.

      • 42214 June 30, 2018 at 12:05 pm

        You were there? BS

        • comments June 30, 2018 at 1:57 pm

I was there too and can confirm the whole thing 😉

          hahahaha

Mike P, were you a cop?

          • 42214 June 30, 2018 at 2:34 pm

Mike was at the OK Coral shootout.

          • PatriotLiberal June 30, 2018 at 2:51 pm

Mike was one of the officers that missed that day. He was also at the North Hollywood shootout in 97, columbine, and had a family member die in every single American war.

Geeze dudes!, all I was doing was sharing (what I thought) was an amusing story that happened. And all I get is flack, get called a liar and told I’m full of crap. Friendly bunch, aren’t ya? You don’t even know me for Christs sake. And, you have quite an opinion for some one who doesn’t know me or that facts. It amazes me how you feel you can crawl out of your hole, hide behind your keyboard and anonymously call people names. Oh, big man. I’m sticking to my story cuz it’s true and I don’t really care what you think because you don’t think, all your comments here are just complaints. You have nothing of interest to say. Have a good day.

hahahahah. When mike says “I was there” I believe he means he just lived in CA at the time. The story sound like something LAPD would do. lol

guess i’m wrong, mike said he was actually there. hmm

  • ladybugavenger June 30, 2018 at 7:46 am

Southern Utah has some of the best police officers. When there is opportunity to shoot to kill, and most of us would find it justifiable, they dont do it. (I dont know about northern utah) It says alot about their character and training. I think other states could learn from these officers.

  • 42214 July 1, 2018 at 12:09 pm

Mikey, when you claim it’s a true story and that you were there and witnessed it stinks of BS. Now you’re just relating an amusing story? Zero credibility.

  • 42214 July 1, 2018 at 7:51 pm

You Tube Kehoe Brothers police shootout and you’ll see Mike standing off to the right. This was a noteworthy shooting that Ron White the comedian jokes about in one of his routines.

  • Mike P July 2, 2018 at 9:14 am

42214, Read what ya want into it. And what’s up with your obsession to the Kehoe Brothers shooting ? And the O.K. Corral. ? You got you some problems there buddy!.

  • Mike P July 2, 2018 at 9:47 am

comments, yes you are correct. I wasn’t personally “on the scene” as this shooting was unfolding. I should have been more specific in that statement for Mrs. 42214. When I said I was there, I meant I lived there locally. At the time I wasn’t aware that it would be picked apart and made fun of. Apparently she has an obsession with details and making fun of people.
This incident unfolded LIVE on local T.V. and was re-broadcast many times throughout the day. Thousands (if not millions .) watched it. So yes, I lived there, I was not personally there at the actual scene, I watched it unfold on live T.V. I have no idea if Ron White has done a bit on it. I wish he would as it appears Mrs. 42214 gets most of her real news from comedians .

    • 42214 July 2, 2018 at 2:28 pm

It’s Ms., not Mrs. your presumptuous ass.

  • 42214 July 2, 2018 at 3:35 pm

On another note Mikey, is calling me Mrs. suppose to be some type of insult or derogatory slam?? Is being female something to be ashamed of? Besides being childish on your part, it probably shows your misogynistic bigotry.

  • 42214 July 2, 2018 at 9:33 pm

I’m sure you’ve seen this by now but chose to go underground and ignore it. Mikey P, you’re a whimp and a punk and lack credibility.

  • Mike P July 3, 2018 at 10:09 am

42214. Sorry I wasn’t waiting with baited breath for your intelligent responses. I don’t usually read this mail till morning. You’re insults and name calling don’t bother me at all. I apologize for referring to you as Mrs. instead of your preference to be called Ms., I didn’t know how important that was to you. And I will not lower myself to your level of name calling. It amuses me how you call me childish when your the one name calling and acting like a child . Geeze. I hope you have a good day, you certainly appear to need one !

  • Mike P July 3, 2018 at 10:10 am

    P.S., Ms 42214, you’re a Democrat, right?

  • Mike P July 4, 2018 at 10:31 am

Ah, shucks ! where did my little troll go?
