‘Chamber Connect’ luncheon to feature co-founder of InfoWest

ST. GEORGE — The St. George Area Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Connect” luncheon for June will feature Dixie State University professor Eric Pedersen, who has had a storied career in tech entrepreneurship.

The event is scheduled to take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1731 S. Convention Center Drive. The cost is $15 per person for chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. Advanced registration is highly recommended and may be done online at the St. George Chamber of Commerce event registration website.

Eric Pedersen

Dr. Eric Pedersen has served as a faculty member in the computing and design department at Dixie State University since 1989. He teaches web development, design and tech entrepreneurship. He is currently the dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology at DSU.

Over the years Pedersen has held numerous leadership roles on campus, including director of the SBDC and Business Development Center from 1989-1994, director of the Center of Excellence for Computer Graphics from 1992-2012 and dean of continuing education from 1994-1997.

Pedersen received his Ph.D. in management information systems from Utah State University and has conducted extensive work in tech entrepreneurship. In addition to his academic career, Pedersen is an entrepreneur. He directed a research team that developed and launched the first website in Utah. He co-founded InfoWest, the first regional internet service provider in Southern Utah, and he has helped create several other successful tech companies.
