ST. GEORGE — A pilot walked away uninjured from a plane crash at the Kanab Municipal Airport Sunday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the crash at approximately 10:45 a.m. in the brush off the airport’s runway.
“The plane was attempting to land at the Kanab city airport,” Kanab Police officer Scott Peay said. “During the course of his landing, he went off the side of the runway into the bushes.”
As the plane crashed, it landed upside down.
“The pilot was the only occupant, and he was not injured,” Peay said. “He walked away from it.”
“The damage didn’t appear to be too severe,” Peay said of the plane, noting that the plane’s propeller and tail were bent.
Currently, the crash is believed to be the result of pilot error, Peay said, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
