The retail furniture store and showroom specializes in high-end, quality outdoor furniture and accessories, ranging from patio chairs and tables to barbecue grills and fire pits. After operating at a different location in St. George for the past few years, Outdoor Living moved to its new larger space about a month ago.

“I love what we do here. I love the atmosphere that we’ve created,” owner Collins Stuart told those in the crowd as he welcomed them to the grand opening event. “I love the reaction of people when they walk in not knowing what to expect. I really love that I’m able to help people create their own little dream in their backyard.”

Following his brief remarks, Stuart wielded the giant scissors and did the honors at the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, which was attended by representatives from the St. George Chamber of Commerce and Dixie Sunshiners along with other invited guests and members of the general public.

Stuart said he started St. George Outdoor Living about four years ago as logical extension of the work he was already doing in his construction business called The Awning Company, which now shares its home in Outdoor Living’s new space.

“We focus and specialize in backyards – patio covers, outdoor kitchens, custom fire features and that kind of thing,” Stuart said. “Anything from a simple patio structure all the way up to complete backyard projects or complete overhauls and anything in between.

“Because I was in the backyard, I was meeting with and working with people that were creating a backyard living space. Furniture was just the missing piece and I just really felt like they needed to have the options of picking any kind of furniture they wanted and being able to have the quality of furniture match the quality of the construction that I was building and just finish off that environment. So that’s what led me to this.”

Stuart said he is especially pleased with the new expanded showroom, which includes a wide assortment of patio furniture, hammocks, awnings, fire pits, barbecue grills and other outdoor features and appliances.

“I go to showrooms all around the country and this one exceeds any of them that I’ve walked into,” he said.

Stuart says his ultimate goal is to help customers create their own personalized living space in their backyards.

“Instead of just selling furniture, selling awnings, what I really want is for people to know that we can create a feeling,” he said. “We can create their backyard, their space – not their neighbor’s, not someone else’s, not even my idea. What I want is for them to see all of the options and be able to piece things together so they get their space, their environment. Because if they’re in love with that, they’ll go outside more. And that’s what I’m after. I want them outside.”
