ST. GEORGE – A check on a parked vehicle along an Arizona roadside near Beaver Dam resulted in the arrest of two St. George men Sunday morning.

Around 8:33 a.m. MST, Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies came across a car parked along Highway 91 near milepost 9, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the Sheriff’s Office.

The car was found to have some front-end damage, along with two men reclining in the seats inside the car. The two were identified as Vincent Edward Gariby, 25, and Ethan Barlow, 26, both of St George.

“Deputies observed a gun inside the door pocket as Gariby exited the vehicle as requested,” the Sheriff’s Office statement reads. “A computer check revealed the gun was reported stolen to the St George Police Department.”

Barlow was also asked to exit the car and was subsequently searched after deputies saw a glass pipe inside the car near where he had been sitting.

“A search of Barlow revealed a glass pipe with residue and a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance,” according to the Sheriff’s Office. Barlow was taken into custody.

A search of the car produced a plastic bag filled with a white crystal substance, accompanying drug paraphernalia and a second firearm.

A background check showed both men had prior felony convictions.

Gariby and Barlow were arrested on counts of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft and two counts of possession of weapon by prohibited person. They were ultimately transported and booked into to the Mesquite City Jail in Nevada.

A trooper with the Arizona Department of Public Safety also responded to the scene.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
