ST. GEORGE — St. George firefighters extinguished a small vehicle fire Tuesday morning on 800 East near the intersection of St. George Boulevard.
St. George Fire Department Battalion Chief Darren Imlay said the call came in at approximately 8:55 a.m. Crews arrived shortly thereafter to find a white Acura SUV that had caught fire within the engine compartment.
A portable fire extinguisher had already been used to suppress much of the flames, after which responding firefighters used water hoses to put out the rest of the fire, Imlay said.
The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely, and there were no injuries, Imlay said.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, Imlay said, adding that the extent of the damage to the vehicle is also not yet known.
The St. George Police Department also responded to the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
