ST. GEORGE — Arrowhead Gallery has announced their featured artists for September. The works of photographer Robert Ford and painter Deann Rex will be shown throughout the month at the gallery. Join Ford and Rex for an artists’ reception at the gallery Sept. 8 from 6-8 p.m.
The Arrowhead Gallery is located at 68 E. Tabernacle in St. George in the Electric Theater Center and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests may also visit the gallery online.
About the artists
Ford has 40 plus years experience as a professor, field researcher, consultant and conservation scientist in Africa, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
In his photography Ford tries to focus on using his work to highlight what the National Geographic Society identifies as “geotourism,” which incorporates the concept of sustainable tourism — that destinations should remain unspoiled for future generations — while allowing for ways to protect a place’s character.
In 2010 Ford took time off to travel across America and to build a house in Rockville near Zion National Park, where he serves on the planning commission and continues consulting, teaching and photography.
Rex draws inspiration from all the amazing wonders and the incredible beauty of this world, according to a media release from Arrowhead Gallery. Her heart pounds and her eyes are astounded as she truly enjoys all that the earth provides.
Rex looks for beauty around every corner, in the pose of a person, the sway of a tree, the colors of nature, someone’s eyes, the innocence of a child and all of the many nuances of color and form. Painting is her passion. She also loves to study great works of art at every opportunity. Sharing this passion with others makes life more enjoyable for her. Rex is also a winner of numerous best of show awards and blue ribbons.
